Telephone Befriender

There are 23,000 visually impaired people in Northamptonshire; loneliness is a common but rarely discussed issue.

If you’re passionate about making a positive impact but find it challenging to commit to in-person activities, telephone befriending might be the perfect fit for you.

We’re actively looking for volunteer befrienders who can offer companionship through heartfelt conversations to some of our most isolated clients.

A simple chat can brighten someone’s week, add variety to their days, and alleviate feelings of loneliness.

The role requires two character references, a clear DBS check and a committed attitude.

Skills

You will be matched with an appropriate person so that you can call them once a week to check in and have a friendly chat.

Full training and support provided.

Use of your own phone is required. However, we will never pass on your contact details to our service users – leaving you fully in control.
