Opportunities with Grassroots Wellbeing
Grassroots Wellbeing CIC is a community interest company based in Northampton, providing trauma-informed, culturally aware wellbeing and counselling services for young people aged 13–25, their families, schools, and organisations. Our work centres Black communities and others facing barriers to mainstream mental health support, including care-experienced and looked-after young people who are too often failed by existing provision. We deliver one-to-one counselling, group wellbeing sessions, school-based support, and professional development for organisations, through creative events, workshops and programmes. We’re also looking to operate a professional directory connecting people with Black health, mental health, and wellbeing practitioners, including counsellors, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, coaches, and more, making it easier for communities to find support from someone who truly understands their experience. Our services are available in Northamptonshire, and surrounding areas, across the UK and online. Black young people and care-experienced youth face some of the highest rates of mental health need in the UK and some of the lowest rates of access to appropriate support. Fewer than 4% of registered therapists in the UK are Black. Mainstream services are often inaccessible, culturally misaligned, or simply not built with these communities in mind. The result is young people going without support, or reaching crisis before they get any. Every young person deserves access to mental health support that sees them fully, their identity, their history, and their community. Grassroots Wellbeing CIC exists to make that a reality, not a privilege. The work we do doesn't just support individuals; it strengthens families, schools, and communities.
