Team Member for Cubs Section

Posted for 2nd Broughton Scout Group

We are seeking an adult volunteer, (well over 18 years old; so younger people very welcome, do not have to be a parent) Or indeed a grandparent or mature person also very welcome. We are a small village Scout group, that consistently has 24 cubs in the section with a full waiting list. The role is to work with a team of 2 other team members, to plan and deliver an exciting, adventurous and sometimes challenging weekly, term time only, programme. Activities range from crafts, experiments, cooking, music; playing team games; to going trampolining, water rafting; camping and hiking. The role is rewarding and fun, being part of young people development and learning life skills is amazing. It is ideal for someone who like an adventure, giving back to others, being part of a small team.

No previous experience is required, just bags of enthusiasm, energetic, reliable and a team player.

We will provide a warm welcome, mentoring support from other experienced leaders; easy access to relevant training and information. All applicants will require a Scout DBS check and some mandatory training, to keep you and our young people safe and protected.

Skills

Bags of enthusiasm, motivated, good communicator, reliable and trustworthy. A team player, Planning and organisation skills ideally Sense of humour, with a flexible approach Able to have fun with the young people but also set boundaries and maintain discipline. This also comes with time, experience and confidence..

We all have our own skills and knowledge, this can be shared with the group and built into the programme, whether you build air fix planes, garden, an artist, plumber, lorry driver, or chef..

Availability Details

Cubs meet, term time 18.00 to 19.30 at Village hall.
Plus small amount planning time, if required for that weeks activity.

Section planning meetings once per term for couple hours
Whole team, so Scout/Cubs/Beaver leaders meeting once per term, generally at local pub for couple hours.
