Reading helper in primary schools

ARCh places trained volunteers into primary schools to support children with reading, confidence and self-esteem.

They are looking for businesses who are interested in supporting their staff to volunteer just one hour a week of their time to go into a local primary school and support children with reading, confidence and self-esteem.

In just one hour, you'll support 2 children for 30 minutes each, giving them the chance to share stories, play games and generally have a "happy half hour"!

This is an on-going commitment, with a weekly commitment of one hour a week.

ARCh are based in Oxfordshire, and have opportunities in South Northants in particular, especially Brackley and villages/towns bordering Oxfordshire.

Skills

Volunteers do not need particular qualifications or experience. They need to be patient, enjoy reading and have the appropriate interpersonal skills to help children and liaise with school staff.

All volunteers must understand and observe child protection and confidentiality policies.

Whilst afternoons are ideal, some schools are happy for volunteers to go in during morning sessions too.
