Join West Northamptonshire Climate and Nature Partnership as a Volunteer

Are you looking for a way to make a real difference, meet knowledgeable and enthusiastic people, and be part of something that aims to help our region develop a network of coordinated community environmental action?
The West Northamptonshire Climate and Nature Partnership (WNCAN) brings together people who believe that protecting our climate, our natural environment, and our community’s wellbeing is one of the most important challenges of our time.
We’re building practical partnerships across the region - connecting community groups, local councils, businesses, schools, faith organisations, farmers, and residents - to turn concern into meaningful climate and nature action.
Our current 9 Steering Group members are all volunteers and some represent organisations (e.g. Northants County Association of Local Councils, West Northamptonshire Council, Climate Action–West Northamptonshire, Garden Organic, Clean Air Northamptonshire, local parish councils), and others are community volunteers.
Together, we’re working to inspire, inform and empower people across West Northamptonshire.
What We’re Working On - As a volunteer, you could help us:
• Share practical information, case studies and resources that support climate and nature action.
• Organise online events, from expert-led talks to hands-on support sessions
• Build and maintain an online resource library for local groups and residents
• Contribute to the planning and delivery of our annual Climate and Nature Summit.
Volunteering with us isn’t just about giving your time - it’s about growing, connecting, and discovering what you’re capable of: building new skills and confidence, meeting friendly, like-minded people, and gaining experience that looks good on a CV, and a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about climate and nature to get actively involved in their local area.
Skills
You’ll need to be very interested and have read about climate change and the crisis in nature, a passion about doing something positive to help mitigate the causes and effects of these environmental issues, access to a computer and some general IT skills – word processing, email, etc.
Steering Group members will provide guidance and support, both one to one or in small groups for specific projects. All Steering Group members are themselves volunteers, though some also represent local organisations, so our philosophy is that as concerned citizens, 'we're all in these worrying environmental times together'.
Ready to Join Us? - If this sounds like your kind of opportunity, we’d love to hear from you. Please email us at wncanpartnership@gmail.com with around 200–300 words on:
• Your interests in climate and nature
• A brief overview of your skills and experience
• An indication of how many hours per month you could offer
A member of our Steering Group will then get in touch to arrange a phone or Zoom conversation and explore how your interests could fit within WNCAN’s work.
