The Rowing Foundation

Providing grants towards the cost of boat equipment or boat refurbishments to support junior & student rowers, and adaptive rowing for all ages.

Our charity was established in 1980 with the aim of “putting young people on the water” and we remain true to this ethos today.

We help to fund equipment purchases (boats, blades etc) or boat refurbishments (such as a “hull & tops” service).  The items must be for the use of Junior squads at clubs or at university boat clubs.

Most of our grants go to UK Rowing Clubs – but we also support clubs or organisations involved in “on water rowing-type” activities.  Recent awards have been made to Gig clubs and Scout groups.

In recent years, we have broadened the scope of our original charitable trust and now also offer grants to further adaptive rowing at clubs.

We can provide grants to help UK clubs and organisations purchase equipment to assist their Adaptive Rowing programmes, and to encourage Adaptive Rowers of all ages.

We are keen to hear from any organisation to see if a grant might help to get more people with any type of disability out on to the water.

All applications for equipment grants need to be submitted online via this website.  Full details are available on the “Equipment” page or you can press the button below.

The Trustees meet 3 times per year to award grants for equipment.

The Deadline for applications for the next round of equipment grant awards is Noon on Monday 4 November 2024
