Smart Energy GB in Communities Fund

Smart Energy GB, the national campaign for the smart meter rollout, has launched the five year Smart Energy GB in Communities Fund, which will be managed by the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF).

Every home in Britain will be offered a smart meter by 2020 at no additional cost.

This fund is to support Smart Energy GB’s work to help everyone in Great Britain understand smart meters, the national rollout and how to use the new meters to get their gas and electricity under control.

The funding is available as both Large and Small Grants to local community organisations that can help engage people and communities across Britain with information about how to get and use smart meters.

The funding is particularly aimed at projects and initiatives that can reach those who may face barriers to getting a smart meter.

There are two funding rounds in 2018:

  • Round 1 with a deadline of 14 May 2018 is focussed on activity targeted at reaching people who are over the age of 60 with no personal internet access or over the age of 65. Grants are available up to £5000.
  • Round 2 (launching early May) is focussed on activity targeted at reaching the severely or profoundly deaf. Grants available up to the value of £7500 – information and guidance will be released at the end of April.
