Smart Energy GB in Communities Fund 2020
Smart Energy GB, the national campaign for the smart meter rollout, launched the five year Smart Energy GB in Communities Fund in May 2016 with the aim that every home in Britain would be offered a smart meter within five years at no additional cost.
The fund has been set up to support Smart Energy GB’s work to help everyone in Great Britain understand smart meters, the national rollout and how to use the new meters to get their gas and electricity under control.
The funding supports those who might find it difficult to engage with the smart meter rollout.
In 2020, the grant funding and support is targeting organisations reaching people aged over 65 who are unaware of smart meters. This group will have a very limited knowledge and understanding of smart meters and will not have engaged with the rollout so far. Insight from Smart Energy GB indicates that this year’s target group are also more likely to have no personal internet access and/or be on a low income.
The application process to become a Smart Energy GB in Communities 2020 partner is being run by the charity National Energy Action (NEA).
Applications are being accepted with a closing date of 21 February 2020.
