Mencap Round the World Challenge

Northampton Mencap are running an initiative called the Round the World Challenge which provides an opportunity for people with a learning disability to take part in a range of physical activities and to earn rewards throughout.

The amount of hours of physical activity takes participants on a journey and there are 3 different routes to choose from:

  • UK route = 20 hours of physical activity to be completed
  • Europe route = 40 hours of physical activity to be completed
  • World route = 100 hours of physical activity to be completed

Northampton Mencap would welcome more people with a learning disability to get involved with the challenge and the activities that they run. They have been taking part since March 2018 and, to date, have over 55 people engaged in a variety of activities. The challenge is currently run on three nights; Monday, Wednesday and Friday at Northampton Mencap.

Take a look at what Northampton Mencap have been up to on their twitter page or visit the round the world challenge page for more general information.

To enable qualifying people to take part you would have to ensure that they can get to and from Northampton Mencap on the chosen evening/s that the activities take place.

The potential benefits of the challenge are:

  • Becoming healthier
  • Meeting new people and making new friends
  • Learning new skills and a sense of achievement
