Postcode Neighbourhood Trust Offers Grants to British Organisations Affected by COVID-19

New funding to help not-for-profit organisations in Great Britain increase resilience by adapting or expanding their services, or to meet new challenges brought on by the coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic.

The £4 million Postcode Neighbourhood Trust is provided with funding raised by players of People’s Postcode Lottery.

Both core funding and project funding will help not-for-profit organisations increase resilience by adapting or expanding their services, or to meet new challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Grants range from £500 to £20,000. Only registered charities can apply for grants of up to £20,000. The maximum grant for groups that are not formally registered as a charity is £2,000.

Applications will be considered from not-for-profit organisations that are not currently in receipt of funds from any trust supported by People’s Postcode Lottery. Applications are particularly welcomed from smaller charities and community groups, with preference given to charities with a turnover of under £1 million. In addition, depending on the volume of high impact applications received, priority may be given to smaller organisations, giving particular preference to those with a turnover of less than £500,000.

The funding is for projects that relate to the following themes:

  • Supporting an organisation’s resilience.
    • Continuing to deliver current services that are at risk of closure
    • Core costs (eg, salaries of key staff, heating, lighting, cleaning, insurance, professional fees).
    • Developing strategies to support resilience (eg developing a fundraising strategy to strengthen financial stability).
    • Promoting positive mental health and wellbeing of staff and volunteers (eg, wellbeing courses, activities focused on improving wellbeing).
    • Volunteer costs (eg, recruitment, training, support and recognition)
    • Staff training (eg, digital training, resilience training, fundraising, health and safety)
  • Adapting or expanding services to meet new challenges.
    • Adapting current services to ensure they continue to meet community’s needs (eg, providing online support, activity packs)
    • Expanding services to meet community’s needs (eg, responding to increase in domestic violence, carer’s support, substance abuse, loneliness, addressing gaps in provision).
    • Creating safe community spaces (eg, refurbishing a space to ensure it is fit for purpose, equipment to make delivery safe and creation of new community spaces).

Applications will be accepted from 4 August to 19 August 2020.
