Northamptonshire Safe and Sound Communities Fund

Grants are available for community safety initiatives in Northamptonshire that reduce harm or offending, improve community engagement or support vulnerable people across the county.

The Safe and Sound Communities Fund is a new scheme provided and administered by the Northamptonshire Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner to fund initiatives that support the aims of the Commissioner’s Public Safety Plan 2025–2030.

Applications are accepted from community, voluntary and charitable organisations in Northamptonshire.

Funding is for initiatives that support the aims of the Commissioner’s new Safe and Sound Plan, which is a strategy that aims to help the OPFCC to work in partnership to best serve victims and communities across the county. The fund will prioritise projects supporting children, women and young people.

The plan is framed around three missions:

  • A drive to rebuild trust and confidence with visible and accessible community services in both towns and rural areas.
  • A focus on professionalism and standards.
  • Developing stronger public safety partnerships. This will mean tackling shared challenges across community safety and criminal justice agencies.

There are four policy tests:

  • Safer communities – confident, engaged and protected.
  • Safer victims – the heart of a stronger public safety system.
  • Sound leadership – high standards and quality services.
  • Sound money management – innovation, efficiency and social value.

Funded projects will be expected to help deliver at least one of the three priorities below, which are linked to the Safe and Sound Plan:

  • Visible and accessible community services – How is your organisation embedded in the community and how will your project make the community feel safe and supported?
  • Professionalism and standards – How will the project overcome social and cultural challenges in the community?
  • Stronger public safety partnerships – How will you work with partner organisations to improve outcomes and drive collaboration in the area where you plan to deliver your project?

To be successful, groups will need to showcase how their project can reduce harm or offending, improve community engagement or support vulnerable people across the county.

Applications can be made at any time.
