Funding to Improve Equality and Diversity in Local Hospice Care

Funding for adult and children’s hospices in England and Wales to support between 11 and 15 local projects that dispel myths and misconception about hospice care and ensure that hospice services are culturally appropriate.

Each year, the Masonic Charitable Foundation works in partnership with Hospice UK to deliver a programme of local funding that will have a significant and lasting impact on communities across England and Wales.

This year the funding is for projects that seek to address inequality and widen access to hospice care for groups of particular concern such as people over the age of 85, black and minority ethnic communities, people who identify as LGBTQ+, and socially deprived communities.

Pro-active community engagement projects should dispel myths and misconceptions about hospice care with the aim of ensuring that local services are culturally appropriate. Applicants should be seeking to facilitate sustainable change in hospice care.

There is a total of £450,000 for this round. It is expected that between 11 and 15 grants of up to £35,000 will be awarded to local hospices to support projects running over a period of 18 months.

The grant could be used to fund:

A new post to coordinate community engagement, data collection, analysis, and the development of an action plan.
Community engagement activities to inform service development or improvement to internal processes.

The funding could cover a variety of costs, including:

Staff salary (full-time or part-time staffing, or a combination of both)
Equipment, marketing/publicity material and resources
Venue hire
Travel
Staff training
