Development Worker (Beat the Streets support and legacy)

Based at Groundwork Northamptonshire in Kettering

30 hours a week (flexible days, some evening and weekend work may be required, & some home working possible)

£18,000 pa (Pro rata = £14,601) plus pension contribution

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic person for this post.

As a Development Worker you will work with the Beat the Streets Co-ordinator to maximise the participation and engagement with the Beat the Street activity programme across Kettering district.

Beat the Streets is a Public Health Northamptonshire & Sport England funded initiative to increase the level of physical activity in community, focusing on a 6 week ‘game’ phase planned to begin the end of September.

You will be involved in encouraging and supporting maximum engagement in this, and subsequently, sustain and build on the momentum created, so that players remain active (and others are engaged), so that people feel healthier, reduce health inequalities and promote active and positive lifestyles to improve people’s Wellbeing across physical and mental health. You will work to create, maintain and develop relationships with community organisations in order to support sustainable behaviours created during the game.

You will need to have knowledge of community development and/or engagement experience and ideally an interest in being active.

We are looking for someone with the ability to work using their own initiative and a strong understanding of the opportunities available to both volunteers, voluntary organisations, schools and work places. You will need to have good communication skills and the ability to engage with a diverse range of people and groups and an interest in physical activity and Wellbeing. You’ll need to be able to work closely with partner agencies and have good interpersonal skills.
