EIB – Social Innovation Tournament 2019

The Social Innovation Tournament 2019 will open on 1 February 2019.

The Social Innovation Tournament is an annual competition run by the European Investment Bank Institute. The aim is to reward European entrepreneurs that generate a social, ethical or environmental impact.

Four prizes are awarded by a jury of specialists from the academic and business world: general category and special category first and second place prizes of €50,000 and €20,000 respectively. In 2019, the Special Category Prizes will go to projects addressing the topic of sustainable consumption and production (including circular economy).

Projects are typically related to combating unemployment, marginalisation of disadvantaged communities and promoting access to education in a wide range of fields, from education and health care to the natural or urban environment, using new technologies, new systems, and new processes.

Individuals and teams from both not-for-profit and for-profit organisations can apply, including: young entrepreneurs, social enterprises, private companies, NGOs, Government and local government and universities.

The tournament runs in two rounds. Finalists are selected in the first round and invited to a mentoring bootcamp to finalise their proposals. At the final event, the finalists present and defend their project to a jury of specialists.

The Call for projects opens on 1 February with a deadline of 7 March 2019 (23:59 CET).
