Edith Murphy Foundation
The Edith Murphy Foundation is a registered grant making charity established by the late Mrs Murphy in memory of her late husband, Hughie Murphy.
Since its inception in 1993 the charity has supported more than 927 organisations with grants of around £23.9 million enabling these groups to carry out ground breaking research as well as providing much needed support to those in need of care.
Grants are normally made for between £500 and £5,000, although larger grants are made in some circumstances.
The funding will support the following:
- Support individuals who by reason of their age, youth, infirmity, disablement, poverty or social and economic circumstances are suffering hardship, distress or are otherwise in need.
- Organisations that relieve the suffering and care for unwanted animals.
- Organisations that carry out research.
Applications can be made at any time. The Trustees meet four times a year to consider grant applications. Dates are fixed three months in advance but tend to be in January, April, July and October.
