Community Law Service – Trustees Required
Community Law Service (Northampton and County) is a registered charity and a large Countywide provider of free independent specialist advice and representation across a range of social welfare advice areas. These include Welfare Benefits, Debt, Housing and Immigration and we also deliver Fuel Poverty projects . We employ 35 staff including Solicitors, Specialist Caseworkers and support staff across our 4 offices in Northamptonshire.
We are looking for committed individuals to expand the range of Trustee skills as well as to consolidate existing skills We require dynamic and motivated people with a proven record in their area of expertise who are sympathetic to the aims and objectives of Community Law Service (Northampton and County) to fulfill these voluntary duties. We expect Trustees to contribute actively to the Board by giving strategic direction; setting overall policy; evaluating performance and ensuring the charity’s efficient administration and financial stability. We want to have a wide range of people on the Board of Trustees, and seek to be representative of the diverse population of the County.
In addition to increasing the numbers of Trustees on our Board we also require a suitably qualified person to become our Treasurer as this post is currently vacant. As we have an employed Finance Officer the Treasurer’s role is largely focused on providing financial oversight and supporting the Finance Officer.
Trustees are expected to
- attend Board meetings which are held approximately every 6 – 8 weeks.(currently via Zoom)
- assist with policy reviews and strategic planning
- attend events.
