This is the fourth round of the Power to Change Bright Ideas Fund which provides business support and grants to not-for-profit organisations that have been operating for five years or less that want to set up their own community business in England.
The Bright Ideas programme, funded jointly by Power to Change and the Ministry for
Housing, Communities and Local Government, has supported 89 nascent community businesses since it was set up in 2016. Power to Change is an independent trust supporting community businesses in England. The programme is delivered by Locality, the national network for community organisations.
In 2018, Power to Change is committing an additional £700,000 to help launch a further 40 inspiring, locally rooted and community-led businesses. Grants of up to £15,0000 are available.
The funding is for community groups, associations, and organisations with good ideas for a community business but need advice and a small amount of revenue funding to develop, test and get to the stage of launching their community business.
There is particular interest in Bradford, Grimsby, Hartlepool, Leicester, Luton, Plymouth, Wigan, Liverpool City Region, Suffolk and West of England Combined Authorities.
The guidance notes for round 4 are available now on Locality -My Community website. Groups can also register for a FAQs webinar with a live Q&A to take place on 18 June 2018 (2pm to 3pm). The registration is via the My Community website.
Round 4 will open for applications on 26 June and close on 31 July 2018.
