Cecil Pettit Legacy Fund – Northamptonshire

Cecil Pettit was one of the founding members of Ability Northants, a charity dedicated to enriching the lives of people living with disabilities. Following his passing in 2000, a legacy fund was established to carry on Cecil Pettit’s good work.

The scheme offers grants to small voluntary and community groups to support projects people living with disabilities in Northamptonshire.

Applications are accepted from small and locally managed voluntary, community or self-help groups based in Northamptonshire.

To be eligible, groups must have:

  • People volunteering to help with the activity who are not part of the group’s management committee.
  • A set of written rules or constitution that the group adheres to and that contains a dissolution policy.
  • Written procedures for keeping young people and/or vulnerable people safe, otherwise known as a child protection or vulnerable people’s policy.
  • An equality and diversity policy.

Examples of some of the types of projects this fund could support include:

  • Support or advocacy groups.
  • Helping people living with disabilities by providing accessible educational or training activities.
  • Health and wellbeing projects to reduce social isolation.

Applications are open at any time and are assessed on a rolling basis.
