Bupa UK Foundation
Established in 2015, the Bupa UK Foundation’s mission is to help people live longer, healthier, happier lives. With £1 million in funding each year from Bupa UK, the Foundation will award grants for practical projects and initiatives which aim to tackle critical issues in health and social care and improve health and wellbeing in the UK.
The Foundation’s funding programmes are developed around clearly defined themes and reflect important factors that underpin health and wellbeing. These include mental health, ageing well, managing long-term conditions, behaviour change and healthy living.
Each round will focus on a different theme:
- The theme of the first funding programme (2015) was Mid-Life Mental Health.
- The theme of the second funding programme (2016) was ‘Caring for Carers’ – an initiative designed to help unpaid adult carers support, manage and improve their own health on a day to day basis.
- The theme of the 2017 funding programme was Healthy Futures which focuses on young adults aged 18 to 25 with specific interest in projects that will have a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of young adults who face ongoing health challenges, supporting and empowering them to live life to the full.
- The theme of the 2018 funding programme is Caring for our Carers.
This theme was selected in recognition of the fact that ‘carers make a vital, hidden contribution to the health and wellbeing of the nation, yet they can often feel socially isolated, lacking support and a sense of community’ and ‘many carers report that caring has taken a toll on their own health’.
The Foundation’s 2018 funding programme is open for applications which focus on supporting and improving the health and wellbeing of older carers.
The deadline for applications is 5 October 2018.
