Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust – Tackling Loneliness Programme

The Tackling Loneliness Programme is provided and administered by the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust. The funding programme has been created in response to findings from an open consultation in early 2020 which identified that loneliness is a major factor of social isolation. Reducing Isolation is, therefore, a major funding theme for the Trust in 2020/21.

The Tackling Loneliness programme aims to address this challenge by targeting specific groups within the Armed Forces community who traditionally do not engage with available provision (this might include local activities, NHS services or other third-sector provision).

The funding is intended to support Armed Forces units, registered charities and community interest companies with experience of working with the Armed Forces community with projects that reduce social isolation by tackling loneliness among groups who do not traditionally engage with provision.

Projects should also fit with at least one of the main themes of the programme:

  • Building stronger social networks and friendships.
  • Improving access to local activities and provision.
  • Building emotional resilience to overcome the causes of loneliness.
  • Empowering Armed Forces communities to become more independent.

Open for applications with a deadline of 9 October 2020 (midday). There will be one application round in 2020.
