Pride Northampton has opened applications for its 2021 event, encouraging performers, food vendors, stallholders, volunteers and community groups to support the town’s Pride event which will take place in the Market Square on Sunday, 12 September.
Following a hugely successful event in 2019, the organisers were overwhelmed by the support and enthusiasm from local groups and residents and hope this year’s event will attract even more support from across West Northants.
Taking place between 11am and 4pm, the event is organised by Northampton’s LGBTQ+ and Allies Forum and the Northampton Pride Committee, and aims to highlight the LGBTQ+ community, businesses and support organisations. Previous celebrations have seen organisations such as Q Space, The Lowdown, Outlaws and Kinky Boots, Northampton Leisure Trust and Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust taking part by holding pop-up shops.
Attendees had the opportunity to sample products from local businesses and producers as well as enjoy performances from local bands, singers and dancers. The Pride Parade will take place as part of this year’s event, starting at the top of Abington Street at 11am and finishing in the Market Square, where live performances will be held.
