Northamptonshire Federation of Disability Sport (NFDS) Fund
The Northamptonshire Federation of Disability Sport Fund is a bursary scheme designed to support the county’s sports clubs, groups and non-profit organisations. The fund has been set up by the Northamptonshire Federation of Disability Sport with the aim of increasing the number of disabled people involved in all aspects of sport, recreation and physical activity within Northamptonshire.
Applications are accepted from constituted sports clubs, groups and not-for-profit organisations based in Northamptonshire.
Organisations must meet the following requirements:
- Be small and locally managed.
- Be a voluntary, community or self-help group.
- Have people volunteering to help with the activity, who are not part of the organisation’s management committee.
- Have a set of written rules or constitution that the group adheres to that contains a dissolution clause.
- Have a community bank account with a minimum of two signatories.
- Have a child protection policy and vulnerable people’s policy in place.
Funding is to support sports projects or physical activities taking place in Northamptonshire that cater for any disability, sensory impairment and/or mental health problem. Sports must be recognised by Sport England and ideally be Paralympic or Special Olympic events.
Projects must:
- Be for people aged 5 years and over (to reflect change in Sport England targets).
- Be delivered in non-curriculum time.
- Increase participation and not just cater for existing participants. Groups should be able to report 70% of participants involved in the project are retained in activity beyond it.
- Be based and take place exclusively within Northamptonshire.
- Demonstrate how the activity will be sustained once the funding has been used.
Grants can be used for volunteer training, equipment or facility improvement as long as it results in participation increase.
The next deadline for applications is 7 October 2022.
