Volunteer Peer Mentors, Northampton
Posted for Bridge Substance Misuse Programme
Bridge is a peer support programme which links volunteers who have recovered from alcohol and/or drug misuse with members with serious substance misuse problems. Bridge also provides a range of activities, events and support. There are recovery workers who work with members to sustain their recovery and staff who specialise in advice and guidance on benefits, housing and employment.
We currently have vacancies for Volunteer Peer Mentors.
In this interesting and varied volunteer role, you will be using your lived experience to support Bridge members through their own recovery journey.
.Roles and Responsibilities:
• Provide motivation, support and act as a role model
• Accompany to external meetings/appointment in a supportive role, such as interviews, doctor’s appointments, etc.
• Facilitate and build positive relationship away from peer influences
• Provide advocacy and empower people to ‘have their say’
• Support Members to identify their aspirations and goals.
• Signpost to relevant staff and services.
• Provide one to one support to members who have requested a mentor
