Following training you will be matched to either a parent/carer of a child on the spectrum or a newly diagnosed adult - depending on which service interests you most. Your role will be one of listening as they adjust to the diagnosis as well as being a system navigator supporting them to access the support organisations that exist in the county. Initially pilot service will be Kettering/Corby but the intention is to expand across the county subject to funding. After training you would be matched to an individual and support in their home or community following a risk assessment.
1 to 2 hours per week which are flexible. No essential qualifications required - training will be provided. Volunteers would require listening skills and to be non judgemental Support will be given via support groups and via telephone from co-ordinator
