SchoolWatch is a project that cares for and supports a ‘school community’. The project promotes safety whilst volunteers listen, care and help young people to become good citizens.

We are looking for volunteers who will help young people feel safe outside school and be able to listen when young people want to talk.

The project is funded by the Crime commission and community safety partnership. We work with the support of the school, the police and the local community, such as the volunteers. Similar projects run in Northampton and Corby and there will soon be one in Brackley.

Schoolwatch volunteers will have a visible presence on routes to and from the Parker Academy. This project further enhances the excellent work that is already happening at the Academy and positively helps the school community by providing the same sort of reassurance, safety and support that Street Pastors already do in the Town Centre in the night time economy.

The volunteers will be standing outside school and walking around the local routes home for the young people, and will chat to young people as they come out from school and take them aside if they need to.

All SchoolWatch volunteers are people from the local community who are prepared to help anyone, regardless of what they believe.

You need to have an interest in young people, live in the local community, and have good communication skills

You should be non- judgemental and adhere to Schoolwatch guidelines at all times.
