If these walls could talk, they would say so much. That’s why volunteer room guides make such a difference. It is an ideal role for anyone who enjoys meeting people, can provide a warm welcome to all and loves bringing history to life.

Claydon House is an unexpected jewel nestled within peaceful parkland and beautiful gardens. A rich treasure trove with a fascinating history, just waiting to be explored.

The house today stands as a shadow of its noble owners’ ambitions; a grand country house that never quite was. Within its walls, spectacular spaces delight and surprise. Elaborate decoration, carvings and chinoiserie take you on a journey through eighteenth century style. Claydon was created under the ethos that money was no object, only the finest would do… but then the money ran out.

Help visitors to discover the remarkable story of one family's fluctuating fortunes as they venture back and forth in time within this remarkable house.

This role will suit you if you are: Full of enthusiasm, hoping to inspire visitors of all ages. Someone who loves being around people – you’ll meet a lot each day! Interested in Claydon – you don’t need to know the history of the universe, but as a room guide you’ll pick up lots of facts and figures.
