Patchwork, or knitted quilt makers wanted
Posted for Project Linus
If you like knitting or sewing and have run out of people to make things for - then this is the ideal opportunity for you. Project Linus make quilts either sewn or knitted for local children and young people. These provide a sense of comfort and security to many people going through difficult times. Patterns and advice re the types of things needed are available from local co-ordinators.
The Bramble Patch in Weedon hold regular Project Linus days throughout the year, when volunteers spend the day sorting donated fabrics and making and finishing quilts to be given to babies, children and teenagers as a tangible sign that someone cares, with the physical reassurance that comes with being snuggled up in a quilt. You could help with these, or just make your own quilts at home.
Quilters must be able to knit or sew. If you are interested in this cause but are not very good with the needles you may be able to help in other capacities - eg sourcing or fundraising for materials.
