We are looking for Volunteer Befrienders to join our Long COVID Project. Volunteers will have had COVID19 themselves and understand the issues people are facing who are still experiencing long term health issues - these may include persistent lung problems and breathing difficulties as well as other symptoms. As a Volunteer Befriender you will be supporting people who are still experiencing long term symptoms and enable them to have someone to talk to on a regular basis. Support can be provided in various way dependent on the volunteer and how involved they want to be - this can be: By telephone Within the Client's home Helping people to access social visits outside of their home particularly when they may be feeling anxious about doing so The role can be very flexible - as well as rewarding it's an opportunity to help others and work within a lively supportive team.

Skills

We are looking for honest, reliable, confident and friendly volunteers who are interested in other people and can understand the frustrations of living with longer term symptoms of COVID19. Good communication skills, empathy and understanding, flexible and non-judgemental. Training and ongoing support provided.
