Help those in distress or at risk of suicide.
Posted for Banbury & District Samaritans
Samaritans are continuously recruiting for listening volunteers. They answer calls from all parts of the UK but this Branch is based in Banbury.
All applications, wherever they come from, will be referred to the national Samaritan website – as all recruitment is centralised to begin with and then forwarded to the branch that you as a prospective volunteer is interested in. You will then be contacted and talked through the website, and any extra questions you may have can be answered.
There is a great deal of information on the national website to help you decide whether the listening role is for you.
volunteers will be caring and non-judgemental people and be in sympathy with
the objectives and values of Samaritans – that giving people the space to talk
and supporting them emotionally will help towards their vision which is that
fewer people die by suicide. Full
training is given.
