FDS is a member led charity which supports disabled people to feel respected, valued and safe. Our Day centre provides  social activities, care and support to its members and also valuable respite for carers. We are looking for an enthusiastic, fun, empathetic volunteer to support one of our members to feel part of our group. Although they are non-verbal we don’t see this as a barrier but an opportunity for you to learn a new way of communicating and making someone’s day. You would always be supervised by one of our carers, work alongside us and not be left alone with her. You would not be expected to do anything medical for her.

If you have some spare time and think that this is something that would interest you then please do get in touch for an informal chat.

No formal qualifications. May suit someone who has some care experience (as she will need assistance with her food and drinks), but this is not essential.

An outgoing, chatty personality. Someone who likes a laugh and is young at heart. Patient and empathetic.

Someone who likes art and crafts, cooking and joining in fun exercise activities could also be advantageous
