Creative communities, Dance for Wellbeing - 4 volunteers wanted
Posted for Wriggle Dance Theatre
Wriggle Dance Theatre are looking for 4 volunteers to assist in the delivery of a dance and movement project for Early Years and families in South Northamptonshire running between Nov 2019 – March 2020.
Funded by the London Marathon Charitable Trust, ‘Creative communities, Dance for Wellbeing’ is a health and wellbeing project aimed at families with pre-school children living in South Northamptonshire who find it difficult to access high quality arts activities locally and experience a sense of isolation due to the rural disadvantages of the district.
The project will consist of 4 performances, a professional development training day and weekly sessions that will run for 10 weeks in 4 South Northamptonshire Libraries; Towcester, Brackley, Deanshanger (in the village hall), and Middleton Cheney, culminating in a sharing on the 11th week.
Families will have had the chance to watch a professional performance in the libraries from Wriggle Dance Theatre called ‘Out of This World’ based on a journey into space. Weekly sessions in each library will consist of a programme of activities aimed at improving participants physical and mental health, through dance and creative movement using this theme of ‘Outer Space’ with the sharing providing an opportunity to bring the 4 groups together for their own performance opportunity.
The volunteers will shadow and support the session leaders in the delivery of the project, with opportunities to input into the planning process and assist in the sharing.
Other duties may include helping with collecting monitoring information and taking video/photos of the project. They will also support the company at the 4 performances, assisting with setting up, liaising with library staff and helping to elicit feedback and evaluation from audience members.
Volunteers will also be invited to attend a professional development training day aimed at early years practitioners / dance artists who would like to gain practical skills and ideas in delivering creative dance and movement for families.
