Assessors are the first people to whom clients tell their "stroy". They assess the complexity and urgency of the problem, as well as the clients needs and ability, to enable them to decide whether to signpost the client to a more suitable organisation, give printed or online information, or make an appointment for full advice.
Volunteers need to demonstrate the ability and enthusiasm to learn. Ability to get on with people, show empathy and empower clients to solve their problems with support from the bureau.
A whole range of skills are identified as part of the ongoing training programme.
