Daventry Dem Cafe are looking for volunteers to act as activity co-ordinators to join the existing co-ordinator taking a lead role in running the activities for the group. The group meets twice a month so the lead role would alternate. Ideally if more co-ordinators could be found you would be part of a rota.
The group meets between 1 and 3pm on the 2nd Tuesday and fourth Thursday of the month. You would need to be available for some time before and after the group for setting up/clearing etc.
You would have the opportunity to attend the group to find out the sort of activities currently used.
Activities take the form of quizzes, games, reminiscence activities etc.
There are usually about 8-10 people attending who are living with dementia. There are also extra pairs of hands to help out.
Skills
Dementia awareness training will be offered to all volunteers. This will be carried out by NHS mental health practitioners.
