The Concertina Charitable Trust

Concertina makes grants to charitable bodies which provide musical entertainment and related activities for the elderly. This not only brightens up their lives, but also provides a therapeutic benefit to their health and well-being.

Concertina is keen to support smaller organisations which might otherwise find it difficult to gain funding. Since its inception in 2004, it has made grants to a wide range of charitable organisations nationwide in England and Wales. These include funds to many care homes for the elderly to provide musical entertainment for their residents.

Few would deny that there is a great need for further provision of funds to help improve the quality of life of those elderly members of our society who, having made a great contribution, now suffer neglect. Confined to the same four walls day in day out because of diminished physical and/or mental capabilities, they are in danger of becoming the forgotten generation. With the advent of increased life expectancy, the scale of this tragedy may well escalate. We salute those elderly people lucky enough to have maintained their health and vigour and many of the organisations we help are run by such people, for the most part volunteers, who recognise that “there but for the grace of God go I!” So may we all one day.

The trustees review applications after the deadlines of: April 30th and October 31st.
