Safe ‘n Sound It is designed to help all residents in South Northamptonshire district The scheme relies on the recruitment of volunteers, particularly in the many village communities of the district, who, after some training, will help local people to benefit from a variety of services such as the installation of smoke alarms, door security furniture and energy saving measures. Some of these services are offered free of charge, while grants and other financial benefits are often available for further measures. Ongoing advice and support is available from professional organisations if needed. The scheme aims to:

Between 2005 and 2007 the project aims save over 14000 tons of carbon emissions in South Northamptonshire and to reduce energy consumption by 7½ million kilowatt hours annually – a significant contribution to environmental protection and to helping South Northants to do its part in meeting the UK’s commitment under the Kyoto Protocol Find out more about Safe and Sound at www.safensound.org.uk
