South Northants VCS Forum
Your chance to have your say and make your voice heard
In the largely rural area that is South Northamptonshire, it is easy for your village or parish group to feel isolated and to miss out on opportunities to meet other groups active in the district. Similarly, you may feel that you have no say in decisions being taken that may affect the members of your group. The South Northamptonshire Voluntary and Community Sector Forum, supported by snvb, is designed precisely to meet those needs.
The forum is still developing and finding its place in responding to the needs of groups and organisations, as well as fulfilling the requirement of statutory authorities such as the local councils and health service to consult with the voluntary sector and take notice of opinion.
The Forum currently meets approximately quarterly and alternates between visiting central locations in the two towns, Brackley and Towcester, and venues in different villages across the district. We try to have a main focus to each meeting that is relevant to community groups, but allow equal time to raise issues of concern and information exchange among those present. Main topics of recent meetings have been the Community Speedwatch programme, Saving the Community Shop, Starting a Youth Activity and Community Engagement with South Northamptonshire Council. The meetings are independently chaired by a community member and managed by a development group.
Recognising the difficulties of keeping in touch across a wide geographical area, we are promoting the use of an e-forum and e- bulletin, as well as our newsletter. You can access these through this website.
This forum is supported by snvb.
