Join up and Get Job Smart!
JOBSEEKERS in South Northants are being encouraged to ‘Get Job Smart’ and join forces in their search for work.
snvb is launching a series of free, informal sessions aimed at helping jobseekers to link up and support each other back into employment or starting a new enterprise.
Get Job Smart project worker, Nicola Shaw, said: “We know many jobseekers in South Northants receive excellent support from existing job clubs but, because many live in rural areas, they can have problems attending on a regular basis and can only access the face-to-face services every two weeks. We want to encourage jobseekers to take the initiative to set up their own self-sustaining clubs in their area. The idea is that they will link in with and build on the help they receive from the formal job clubs while creating an ongoing support and companionship network on their own doorstep.
“Members could meet up at local community centres or cafés or even create an online forum, if they prefer. We can help people to do this and Job Centre Plus staff will be at every session to show how they could apply for funding to cover the club’s start up costs.”
Get Job Smart sessions will be taking place at Towcester, Brackley, Roade, Deanshanger and Middleton Cheney libraries from May to September. Book your place NOW! Ring snvb on 01327 358264.
